Boyds Bears 2008 Wall Calendar The beloved teddy bear has been around for moure than a hundred years now and remains as appealing as ever. It all started in 1902, with a cartoon in The Washington Post by Clifford Berryman, after President Teddy Roosevelt refused to shoot a defenceless bear cub during a hunting trip. Public sympathy was with the president and the cub, and Teddy’s Bear soon became famous, first in print and then in plush.
